Extreme sports refer to the adventure sports that are performed by people now-a-days as a recreational activity or for fun activity. These include paragliding, scuba diving, zorbing, rafting, bungee jumping, etc. These sports are performed at specific places where there is suitable terrain and climate available for the particular sport to be performed. For instance rafting requires open waters like that of a river and so is performed in places like Alaska, Canada and Chile etc. Also paragliding which requires open spaces in the air at long stretches, is done in the mountains of danyang in South Korea, Yelgiri and many other places.

These extreme sports are different from the regular or the traditional sports played in the daily life. These traditional sports are usually played for a competitive purpose and also representing a team, they are played to win. However the extreme sports are performed by a person just for the recreational purpose, to spend time away from the usual schedule and doing something different. People are subjected to natural and unusual physical and mental challenges in such sports.

The main difference that can be spotted between the two types of sports is that the adventure sports are dangerous and life threatening whereas the regular sports are not. These sports can only be performed by people above a certain age and having certain physical ability. Children have to be assisted by parents or an elder if they wish to take part in any such activity.

Some negative points associated with adventure sports are that the equipments used for these are quit costly, and the sport cannot be performed without the protective gears. Even while performing with all the equipments attached, one is not completely sure of the safety. Accidents can take place even after taking all the precautions. There is always a danger of getting hurt or even getting seriously injured.

All there dangers are always associated with the sport but if a person gets his mind and body ready for such a thing, then the fun associated with it can be experienced. A person should be physically fit and strong for any such activity as it involves great physical strength. And also as these are subjected to height, deep waters and such destinations, one must have a strong heart, or else it could be life threatening for anyone who is phobic to any of these.

Apart from all the dangers, extreme sports are the most fun involved, full of enthusiasm and carry a lot of advantages. People who perform such activities remain physically fit and healthy as it increases their blood circulation and keeps the body healthy. These activities take one into a different world away from the daily stressful life. It’s the best form of recreation. Not only getting rid of the monotonous life, these activities help to build up confidence, physical and mental strength, will power, etc. It makes one strong enough to take risks in life.

Extreme sports have gained popularity in the recent times and are tried by people belonging to different age group as well as following different likes and dislikes.
