Drugs & Teens- Today’s Menace And Ruined Future

Adolescence is a time to try new experiences, take risks and explore new ideas. At such an age experimenting seems fun. While all these curiosities lead teens in a positive direction, there is also an equal possibility of getting involved into malpractices such as taking drugs. These days teens have an easy access to alcohol, heroin and other such drugs. An easy access leads to their experimenting which leads to posing a harmful effect on the mind and body along with making one addicted to the drug.

The most common drug used by teenagers is Cannabis. It is a plant used in the preparation of certain medicines, overdose of which acts as a drug. A harmful effect of this drug is that the person becomes addicted to taking drugs and starts taking other drugs as well like cocaine, etc. Parents typically worry about their children taking such illegal drugs but the legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco are the ones which introduce a teenager to the use and effects of drugs, enjoying which the teen moves onto trying other different types of drugs available illegally.

There is no way to ensure whether a child would take drugs. There are many reasons why children get involved into taking drugs. It could be due to getting along with a wrong group of people and picking up from them. Some may also find it a way to socialize with some friend, due to peer pressure or the need to feel part of a group. However hard the parents may try, peer pressure takes a toll on one’s life decisions as teenagers are always curious about being a part of the “cool” ones.

Apart from the social factors there are many personal reason which can lead a teenager into a life addicted to drugs. Teenagers could be traumatized due to some incident of their life or maybe a family issue and not being able to share it with anyone and finding a solution they may take the help of drugs to feel relaxed and divert themselves. Such psychological or physiological pain is concealed into drugs.

Though drugs is an addiction which is too difficult to get rid off, but it cannot be considered as impossible to escape. There are always certain ways and methods applying which one is able to get away from the addicted life. There are a number of drug de-addiction centers open these days which are willing to help such people make their lives better. But they can only help the addicted teenagers if they are determined to help themselves. There is always a way to the brighter side of life.

The parents can also play an important role to help their children who are addicted to drugs. The first step would always be talking to them politely, in a friendly manner so that they can feel free to discuss their issues. There should always be an open conversation about drugs and their effects between parents and the child so that the child is fully aware and can tackle it well when any such a thing comes across in life. Parents can be the best friend which would avoid the child from making unnecessary friend just to have someone to talk to and spend time with.
